To the self-employed mom - well, to any mom reading this - trying to manage kids schedules and home life with your work and chronic illness or neurodivergence (perhaps yours and theirs…), I see you. You’re not alone.
I know you’re probably wondering how to navigate the HEAVY things outside of yourself and this home experience.
Honestly? Me too.
I know you want to manage it while also protecting the joy and peace of your home, your kids, and yourself. Especially on flare days. Or days of extreme overstimulation.
I wish I had better answers. Truely, I do.
All I can say is, keep showing up as best you can. Don’t push yourself when you can’t, but keep showing up. That is what your children need, and what they need to see. This is what YOU need.
What I can share is this:
- take the break
- visit the lakeside or seashore (really, just go find a beautiful body of water)
- sit in the sun
- drink the water
- have the sweet treat
- learn the new skill
- start the new hobby
- take the deep breath
- listen to the music
- say the prayer
- have coffee with the friends
- Keep. Living.
These are the best things we can do for ourselves right now. These are the small acts that ground us. These are the small acts of resistance. These are the small pockets of joy that support our peace.
I see you. Juggling your business, home, body, and the heavy things of this world.
And YOU’RE NOT ALONE.
