I have three businesses. That's right. Three.
Now, it hasn't always been that way, and certainly not when my kids were babies/toddlers.
That said, I now have a six year old and a five year old at home, no reliable child-care (at the moment), and I'm running THREE businesses.
And I'm not burnt out. I haven't been in quite a while. Not really.
I run a part-time private practice as a therapist working mostly with women on various life issues.
I'm an author of romance and romantic suspense novels and novellas.
And I'm a life coach focused on helping neurodivergent moms who are self-employed so they can burnout-proof their life, calm the mental chaos, and find work-life balance.
That's right, I help other moms burnout-proof their lives, so they aren't living in mental chaos in the day-to-day and aren't drowning in work tasks.
Three major shifts that made the difference are:
1) Intention: being intentional about my time, my activities, and the tasks for the day
2) Simplification: simplifying my expectations, my systems, my environment, and my tasks
3) Gratitude: genuine, daily gratitude for what my life has been, what it is, what it is becoming, and what it will be
As I made these shifts, I realized I was not living my life in burnout anymore. Even during PMDD week, I found my way to a better mindset, a better outlook.
As I made these shifts, I have been better able to connect with my kids. I've made better uses of my time. I feel like my true, authentic self again.
Burnout is something many people experience at work, but the fact is, many moms experience it in motherhood, as well. For those of us who are neurodivergent, it's all the trickier to navigate, especially if we throw working for ourselves on top of it.
Would it be easier to show up to a "day job" and do what the boss wants? Clock in and out and that's that?
Maybe. But it's unlikely.
Many of us want the flexibility that being self-employed, especially from home, gives us for ourselves and our family. The fact is, though, few of us have a model for that. Or direction on how to do things such as set boundaries, communicate assertively, adjust expectations, and keep ourselves on task through prioritization.
That's where coaching like mine comes in. From the practical basics that help navigate motherhood and self-employment while chronically ill or neurodivergent to the nitty-gritty of skills that will sustain the changes, Cultivating Cadence is the program that sets my clients up for success.
Typically by the end, my clients are experiencing more confidence, more clarity, less burnout, better "work-life balance", and have fallen in love with life again.
If you're not ready for the big program, or you think you just need a jumpstart to get through burnout, I'm hosting a 90-minute intensive called Burnout-proof Your Life on August 7.
This $20 intensive is designed to do exactly what the title says: give you the foundation to burnout-proof your life as a mom and business owner as you go forward.
